Above All– To Thine

We've all rolled our eyes at our parents before, right? Yep, we thought so. They mean well, but sometimes they just drone on and on and on… and on. They love to lecture you, even if you don't need it or have already heard it a billion times.

Sound a little like your parents?

Polonius likes to dish advice, but he sure can't take it. He pays someone to spy on his son and spies on his daughter himself, with a little help from the king.

MEANING THEN

So we get the literal meaning of all this. Be true to yourself. Don't borrow money to buy things you cannot afford.

Still, maybe there is something to his advice. After all, if he would have listened to his own lines here, maybe the play wouldn't have ended in tragedy for him and his family. The irony is that he's not true to himself. And it gets him killed. And his son and daughter killed, too. Whoops.

MEANING NOW

These days, most of the time we hear people say "to thine own self be true," they are speaking literally. And it seems like pretty good advice, especially for people heading off to college, taking a new job, or making big changes in their lives. It's important to remember to be yourself and not change for other people.

The thing is we all go through these pressures today. People will tell us how to dress, how to talk, what music to listen to; and sometimes, we listen to them instead of thinking about whether we actually like all that stuff. And it doesn't just stop with our clothes and its tunes accounts either.

Some people will even tell you what job to get, how to run your life, and what to believe.

Monday Blues

Everyone on this planet would complain about each and everything, but the most familiar thing which you would have heard would be about Mondays. After such a pleasant weekend one has to go back to their daily routine and work. Thinking that on every Monday morning, one wakes up on the wrong side of the bed and is lethargic and lazy.  But why do people hate only one day of the week? It doesn’t make any difference at all because all days are the same, but our mentality is such that we think in one direction. Many scientists have discovered a cure for Monday blues – stop sleeping on weekends. And a new study has found that lazy Saturday and Sunday lie – It can disturb your body clock, leaving you fatigued at the start of the week. Well from my side, I would recommend in enjoying all the 7 days of the week, and I am sure life will support you ahead.  But my friend, it’s your choice in doing the way you like it.
