Life Without Technology

Every time I experience a power outage I would just usually lie on the couch and sleep through the whole ordeal. I could not imagine life without electricity to power all of our devices that help us live through our everyday experiences. Putting electricity aside, every aspect of our life is touched by technology. Our transportation, everyday communications right down to the present method of teaching are influenced by technology. Have you ever wondered how people used to do research without the internet or how we travel from country to country without cars and airplanes? It made me shudder to think of the fact of living without technology.
Looking throughout our history, man never ceased to stop innovating and inventing different technologies in different aspects in our life. Without the communication technology on which the modern society relies heavily upon, the life as we all know it would cease to exist. And that is only the removal of a single piece of technology. Technology has helped us through many aspects in life. It has saved countless lives through medicine as well as bringing people together from all around the world. It has also become the source of death and suffering through countless wars and battles resulting in the claiming of countless of innocent lives.   For me, technology is a tool, without it, I believe that people would still continue to exist and prosper. But with it, it can bring about miracles and do countless of unmentionably good things.

Good Governance– The Need Of  The Hour

As a vehicle is useless without the fuel, likewise a country cannot be run in the absence of good governance. Good governance is a real drive behind a country’s development. It protects the human rights, delivers the justice, maintains law and order and provides equal opportunities to the masses. It delivers the fruits of progress and development to all and sundry. It is required at all levels of society and state. In today’s globalized world good governance helps to meet the challenges of the world. It makes the system of the state effective and efficient. The people of the country enjoy equal rights under good governance. Minorities live freely and exercise their religion. No one considers himself above the law. Everyone, no matter how influential he is, is accountable before the law. Corruption is unheard of in a country where good governance prevails. Not only government officials but also common citizens are aware of their duties and play their role sincerely. In such cooperative environment, economy boosts and investment increases, leading to the prosperity of the country. In this way good governance helps to reap the fruits of globalization.

The biggest determinant in our lives is culture, where we are born, what the environment looks like. But the second biggest determinant is probably governance, good governance or a certain kind of governance makes a huge difference in our lives. Governance is defined as the manner in which power is exercised in the management of a country’s economic and social resources for development. Good governance means competent management of a country’s resources and affairs in a manner that is open, transparent, accountable, equitable and responsive to people’s needs.

Regional exchange can be a source of growth and development, and of enhancing good governance. Corruption is the enemy of development, and  good governance. It must be got rid of. Both the government and the people at large must come together to achieve this national objective.
