The chaste bond of love between a brother and a sister is one of the deepest and noblest of human emotions. 'Raksha Bandhan' or 'Rakhi' is a special occasion to celebrate this emotional bonding. Raksha Bandhan, a promise to protect each other

Our school in order to foster the holy bond between a brother and sister celebrated Raksha Bandhan. A special assembly was conducted on this occasion; the assembly was true to its title ‘a very special one’.

The assembly had various beautiful components be it a dance or a drama, an informative speech or eye opening messages, it had it all. The assembly concluded with a small drama in which a boy protects an unknown girl from an eve teaser, the girl thanks him and ties him a Rakhi, this gave us two messages at the same time they were: to respect girls and help her if she is facing any harassment and a brother is not necessarily your blood relative. And in the end a Rakhi tying ceremony was shown.

The celebration was not limited to assembly, in many classes the girls tied Rakhi to boys of their classes and many boys in return gave them chocolates.

Rituals like Rakhi, there is no doubt, help ease out various societal strains, induce fellow-feeling, open up channels of expression, give us an opportunity to rework on our role as human beings and, most importantly, bring joy in our mundane lives.
